Mr Dig provides quality excavation and home demolition services in Sydney, servicing the Campbelltown, Blue Mountains and Camden areas. Whether you are looking for a pool removal contractor, home demolition services or a simple shed removal, Mr Dig is one of the best demolition contractors Sydney has to offer.

When and why did you start the biz?
Our business began in 1998 as there was a need in the market. There weren't many around at the time that assisted people in removing pools. Removing pools is a very big undertaking and requires much planning and an understanding of the landscape.

Where's your office?
Our office location is at a private residence where we conduct all our administrative tasks.

What's the toughest part of running your biz?
The toughest part would be getting new clients. Because the industry is a niche industry (people generally don't own pools and generally don't have pools that need to be removed), it can be difficult sourcing new clientele.

What's the most fun part?
Like any other landscape job, it's the transformation to the backyard once the pool is removed and the hole filled in. It creates an entirely new space and possibilities for the clients.

Anything you would have done differently?
Not really. We have don't have any regrets when it comes to business. I have one reflection and that is that when entering a niche market, ensure to also allow yourself to expand in other related areas as work may not always be available, especially in the beginning.

What's next on the horizon for your biz?
The next steps is to continue to grow in generating more work. Our customers are once off, so it's important for us to always be sourcing new clients.

What advice do you have for others?
The best piece of advice I would give is to: 1) give yourself a couple of years before folding the business. It's difficult to see major changes in these fledling years. 2) perservere 3) ensure you have good financial backing and a good support network for your own mental well-being. You may not be going on holidays the first few years, so it's important that you take of yourself by surrounding yourself with those that can support you're mental well-being.

How do you use Idea Cafe to help your biz?
Well, for us it is to get our name out there in order to get more customers. Hopefully advertising here, will get our name out and expose what it is that we do. As mentioned, we are a niche market, so any form of advertising is a big help for us.
